Grandma's Gingerbread

Recipe from The Beverly Lewis Amish Heritage Cookbook

Cream:

1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. lard
1/2 c. sugar

Add:

1 c. hot water

Beat smooth and add:

1 egg
1 c. molasses
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt

Beat until smooth. Bake in greased shallow pan at 325-350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.
